ITSS would like to thank Sarah Paro for her many years of service and congratulate her on her retirement.

Sarah began working in ITSS in 1998, after finishing her Master's degree in English Literature and serving as a Teaching Assistant at UMD for the years just prior. She transitioned from teaching in the Humanities 470 writing computer lab to staffing it.

Coordinated Key Services

Over the early years of her career, Sarah coordinated many key services for ITSS, including our Audiovisual Checkout services, Interactive Television Classrooms, and the Help Desk. She grew her technical skills to fill emerging roles within ITSS as the technology needs of the campus grew and shifted.

Team Leader

Sarah retires as the Team Leader for both our Student Computing and Classroom Technology Teams. She has been coordinating the end user experience in those learning spaces as well as managing the student employees who offer frontline services.

Mentored Student Employees

Sarah has not only been a wonderful colleague to her peers, but has also mentored hundreds of student employees over the years. We pride ourselves on providing a nurturing and challenging professional work environment for our student employees, where they can grow customer service skills and understand how to thrive in their careers after UMD. Sarah has been a huge part of fostering that environment. Many former UMD student employees stay in touch with Sarah and include her in their important life events.

Best Wishes

We truly appreciate Sarah's years of service and wish her the best in her retirement.
