What Helps UMD Students Learn: Takeaways from Student Facilitated Feedback Sessions 2020-22

Join us on February 15. We'll be sharing themes, pedagogy, strategies as well as providing resources.

Since Fall 2021, Mary Jetter & Alyssa Bonnac of the Center for Educational Innovation (CEI) have visited the UMD campus and hosted Student Facilitated Feedback (SFF) sessions. These conversations are designed to collect Early Term Feedback on Teaching.

Through the SFF process students are invited to give feedback about what is supporting their learning experiences and what could be improved upon. The CEI consultant aggregates and summarizes the student feedback to inform conversations with the instructor. Together the instructor and consultant discuss teaching strategies, technologies, and resources that can be applied in the course, and most importantly, how to respond to the feedback with students in a subsequent class.

What We'll be Sharing

During our in-person February 15 session, we'll share:

  • Common themes from the feedback sessions
  • Pedagogy and strategies that enhance and compliment these themes, and
  • Resources for cultivating these qualities in your own classes.
  • Much more!
