Open Forum

Donalee Attardo, Jeff Weber, and Keith Brown from the Office of Information Technology (OIT) will host an open forum on campus to provide an update on the University's current learning management system (LMS) evaluation and answer your questions.

Building an Exam Security Roadmap

The University of Minnesota has been investigating a variety of emerging technologies for the purpose of improving the proctoring of online exams. After reviewing the initial needs of the University, a viable candidate for an enterprise level e-Proctoring solution has been identified, and we are in the planning stages for implementation. To help best utilize this new software, as well as to determine other needs of a future exam security environment, we are seeking your perspective.

The Academic Integrity Workshop Agenda includes a discussion of exam security considerations and pedagogy, which are not related to a specific technology solution.

Metacognition: Strategies for Helping Students Learn How to Learn

A TeachingSupport@UMN workshop is being offered.

Workshop Description

As experts in our particular fields, we have learned how to plan, monitor, evaluate, and reflect on new contexts, ideas, practices, and research as part of daily lives. While these metacognitive skills are invaluable to us, they are largely invisible to, and therefore not practiced by, our students as novice learners. This session will focus on ways of incorporating metacognitive skill development into the homework, class activities and assignments students complete while enrolled in your courses so that they, too, become self-directed learners.

Spring Semester Wrap-up Sessions

ITSS educational technologists will again be adding extra Friday drop-in sessions to assist faculty and instructional staff with final gradebook preparations and fall course planning. We will also be joined by representative from the Registrar's office to assist with final grade (MyU/Peoplesoft) submission. No registration is required for any of the drop-in sessions.
