Say Goodbye to Long Distance Bills

As of February 25, ITSS stopped billing for long distance phone calls. This saves money, improves efficiency, and simplifies calling.

Improves Cost Efficiency

The cost to bill now exceeds the annual long distance expense itself. Given that data, ITSS's recommendation to eliminate long distance billing was approved by the Chancellor's Leadership Committee, Council of Deans and Academic Administrators (CODAA), and University Audits.

No More Monthly Detail Sheets

ITSS will continue to collect call detail records for all calls made through our phone system, but monthly detail sheets will no longer be distributed to departments. The last set of detail sheets departments will receive will be for February.

Simplified Calling Procedure

Users are no longer required to enter their 8-digit long distance authorization codes when making long distance calls.

Procedure
To Call: Dial:
U.S.A. and Canada 9 + 1 + area code + number
International 9 + 011 + Country Code + City Code + number

Personal Long Distance Calls Still Against Policy

It's still University policy that personal long distance calls not be made via the University phone system. Suspected abuse will be investigated.
