Changes in ITSS Services

Beginning Monday, March 16, ITSS will suspend most face-to-face services. This will allow us to accommodate faculty, staff, and students, while supporting working remotely as recommended by President Gabel’s latest message.

Help Desk

Assistance will be available in the following ways:

Remote staff will be monitoring all Help Desk requests and will call or email to provide support.  In place of on-site visits, we will be utilizing remote support tools such as Bomgar Beyond Trust, Hangouts, or Zoom.

  • Assistance will be provided by appointment only for Monday and Tuesday.  Call 726-8847 or email [email protected] to schedule.

  • All devices currently completed and available for pickup may be picked up Monday or Tuesday in person by scheduling a pick-up time.

  • We will not be accepting any new repairs for devices from students, faculty or staff at this time.  Staff may be able to work with you to find other possible repair options.

  • Check out services for Chromebooks and other devices have been temporarily suspended.  If you have a business need to check out a device for long-term use at home, please contact the Help Desk.

Infrastructure, Systems, Application Support, Reports & Ad hoc Queries

Network, Telephone, Systems and Application support staff are available to address campus needs.  We are online and monitoring systems. Submit an ITSS Service Request form, or contact the Help Desk (as above), and staff will respond to your needs as quickly as possible.

Use your Office Phone Remotely on Your Cell Phone

The Avaya IX Workplace app will allow you to make and receive calls from your office phone number anywhere you have cellular or WiFi service. Click on the following link to fill out the request form. Instructions will be emailed to you. At this time, we are able to fulfill all requests the same day. Avaya IX Workplace Request Form

Academic Continuity Resources

Instructors can take advantage of existing online technologies to minimize disruption and facilitate many course activities. There are a variety of synchronous and asynchronous options to consider. Academic technologists are available to help instructors discuss a continuity plan and identify appropriate technologies.

See the UMD Keep Teaching website for UMD and System resources including virtual consultations and access to mobile equipment.

Student Computing, Multimedia and Classroom Services

  • Students can access Windows lab software virtually.

  • ITSS physical spaces (labs and printer locations) will remain open for as long as that is the system and campus directive.

  • The Multimedia Hub is closed, please contact the Help Desk if you have needs and we will handle by appointment.
