The new system will integrate voice with our current Zoom platform. We expect to complete the entire project by the Summer of 2026. Users will have the option of using the Zoom app for mobile and desktop and/or a desk phone. To support campus sustainability initiatives, we encourage people to choose the app over a plastic phone. Here are just a few of the new features you can look forward to with Zoom Phone:
- New dial plan (4-digit campus dialing will remain)
- Express Dialing to all UMN sites
- Search for and click on user to dial from your Zoom client
- Texting (SMS) from your UMD extension
- Voicemail transcription
- Turn a phone call into a Zoom session
- Personal call-blocking lists
- Enhanced contact center features
