The annual observance of the International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) was proclaimed in 1992 by United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3. It aims to promote the rights and well-being of people with disabilities in all spheres of society and development, and to increase awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect life. Become aware how people with disabilities use the web and the impact of web accessibility.
How People with Disabilities Use the Web
The W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) has created a great resource: How People with Disabilities Use the Web. As it explains:
This resource introduces how people with disabilities, including people with age-related impairments, use the Web. It describes tools and approaches that people with different kinds of disabilities use to browse the Web and the barriers they encounter due to poor design. It helps developers, designers, and others to understand the principles for creating accessible websites, web applications, browsers, and other web tools.
