Computer Management
ITSS desktop and computer maintenance support staff provide computer management for multiple platforms.
Database & Server Support
- Server support and maintenance
- Our server support can include all aspects of installation and maintenance, including hardware purchase, OS installation and updates, and on-going customer support.
- Managed database service
- ITSS offers complete packages of hardware, database software, database administration and system administration in support of your data needs.
File Storage
Faculty, staff and students have a variety of options for storing files (data, web, email, research) on University servers, including both personal file storage and shared storage areas for collaboration.

Network and Wireless
ITSS offers high speed wireless and wired Internet access throughout campus. During the next three years, UMD will be part of the Next Generation Network (NGN) project at the University of Minnesota to upgrade all components of the University's network and WiFi.
Printing
Faculty and staff can print to departmental printers from Unix, Macintosh and Windows applications. Students can print to the networked printers in the student computing labs from the lab workstations or from their personal computers using the Uniprint software.
Following is a summary of the types of network printing available and details on how to proceed.
Software
The University and ITSS provide a variety of Windows, Macintosh and Unix-based software to students, faculty and staff, for both business and personal use. While you are free to use any software you wish, ITSS does provide a list of recommended solutions. Telephone and Voicemail
Voice Services
Voice Services provides telecommunication solutions that support the mission of the University of Minnesota Duluth. The included service offerings are demand-driven, user-focused and ensure that telephones, peripherals, applications, and communications get delivered intelligently, meet security requirements, and work appropriately. Beyond the service offerings listed below, Voice Services also supports the related circuits that provide on-campus, local, long distance, and E911 calling.

UMD Email and Google Apps
Through a partnership with Google, University of Minnesota students, faculty, and staff can access a suite of Google-powered communication and collaboration tools designed to enhance our ability to work together. The suite includes email, calendar, document sharing, instant messaging, and Web site publishing tools.
Web Hosting & Content Management
ITSS provides web hosting and content management support to the UMD campus through a variety of tools and options, depending on the site and user needs.
