In the realm of accessibility practices, there is no thornier issue than the use of Portable Document Format (PDF).  In February, UMN’s Accessibility Ambassadors’ offered a great presentation entitled “Is PDF right for you?: or Choosing the right Alternative formats.”

The presentation includes:

  1. detailed presentations slides which include historical review, myth busting, decision trees, and demonstrations, and 
  2. a Google Doc of Frequently Asked Questions and resources adds additional depth to the conversation.

Canvas Course Site Hall of Fame Award Virtual Presentation

The University of Minnesota is hosting a Zoom only presentation of “Canvas Site Design that works: Principles from Hall of Fame award recipients.”

The event description follows:

"Come hear advice from instructors who were award recipients for the Canvas Course Site Hall of Fame inaugural year. Instructors will share practical, award-winning strategies for organizing and designing your Canvas course site for clarity, consistency, and student success.”

The session is scheduled for March 26 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm.

Surveys are now available in Canvas New Quizzes

You can now create Surveys using New Quizzes in Canvas allowing you to collect anonymous or non-anonymous feedback, with graded or ungraded options.  This is useful for feedback, quick reactions, and low stake assessments.
