VPN: Windows AnyConnect Client

There may be times that you need to connect to the VPN Service before logging into your windows workstation. This can be done by using the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client. Visit the Installing the VPN client web page for more info!

To connect to the VPN Service before logging in, follow these steps:

  1. On the login screen, Press Control-ALT-Delete when prompted. This will take you to the login screen.

  2. Ensure that you are connected to the internet before proceeding. You can connect to local WiFi if needed by selecting the globe icon in the bottom right corner of the login screen.
  3. In the bottom right corner of your screen, next to the internet, accessibility, and shutdown options, select "Network Logon"

  4. After the VPN screen appears, if needed, input the UMD VPN address as: http://tc-vpn-1.vpn.umn.edu/umd

  5. When prompted, log in using your usual MyU account credentials and be prepared to accept the DUO security request.

  6. Once connected, proceed with logging in like usual. If you have any issues, please contact the ITSS HelpDesk.
