Windows 10 is rapidly approaching its official end-of-life date of October 13, 2025. At that time, these devices will no longer receive OS or Security updates and their access to UMD/UMN systems will be revoked. To ensure continued network and service access, now is the time to move to Windows 11.
Upgrade Assistant in Software Center
Windows 11 Upgrade Assistant is available in the Software Center for all managed Windows devices that are compatible with the upgrade to Windows 11.
Use this application to quickly and easily upgrade your Windows device from 10 to 11 on your own time, whenever you're ready, with the click of a button! You can even continue to use your device for the majority of the upgrade.
Windows 11 Upgrade Instructions
- Before you start:
- If you are on a laptop, make sure you are connected to power and charging.
- If you are working remotely, connect to the VPN before logging into your user account.
- Do not restart or shut down your computer until directed to do so by the application.
Open the Software Center and select or click on the Windows 11 Installation Assistant:
Select "Accept and Install" to agree to the Terms and Conditions and begin the installation:
The installation process begins!
Once the download and install are complete, select "Restart later" (in 30 minutes) or "Restart now". The restart should take around 15 minutes:
You are back online and ready to use your new OS!
