Join ITSS Academic Technology for Canvas demonstration session to:

  • Review good practices on using Canvas
  • Learn useful tips inspired by frequently asked questions
  • Reveal newer or hidden features

Fall 2025 Canvas demo sessions

October Canvas demo 

The two sessions (same content) will  focus on the use of the gradebook, quizzes and assignment, specifically:

  • Classic quizzes vs New quizzes
  • Canvas Quiz/Assignment feature review such as,
    • Moderate a quiz
    • Quiz/assignment accommodations
  • Gradebook filters 

Demonstrations will be held for 30 minutes, followed by 15 minutes of Q&A.

September Canvas demo 

These sessions will focus on:

  • Use UDOIT to Scan a Course for Accessibility Issues
  • Canvas Accessibility Checker in Rich Content Editor
  • Assignment due dates and how to do bulk edits

Demonstrations will be held for 30 minutes, followed by 15 minutes of Q&A.

Past sessions

May Canvas Demo 

The May Canvas demo session will focus on two topics: Transition on exam proctoring and the New Quizzes updates.

In this session, we will have step by step how-to demos on:

  • Honorlock
    • Exam proctoring tool transition- Proctorio retiring May 31, 2025. Learn how to transit to Honorlock if you plan to continue to use an exam proctoring tool for future semesters.
  • New Quizzes
    • When you import content from a previous course into a new semester, there is an option to convert Classic Quizzes/Question Bank to New Quizzes/Item Bank during import process now.

Demonstrations will be held for 30 minutes, followed by 15 minutes of Q&A.

April Canvas Demo 

 Join April Canvas demonstration sessions for topics on prep work for getting your final grades ready, as well as accessibility tools in Canvas

  • Prep for final grades/ getting your final grades ready
    • Grading scheme (Building and Applying Letter Grade Scales)
    • Grade cells in gradebook
  • Accessibility tools in Canvas
    • UDOIT in Canvas for Accessibility checking
    • Rich Content Editor with Accessibility Checker

January Canvas demo 

The January sessions include a variety of topics

  • Use UDOIT to scan a course for accessibility issues
  • Remove the content of the course that you are not using
    • and the use of Canvas development site
  • Verify that all of the links in your course content are working
  • Assignment due dates and how to do bulk edits
