Four Reasons to Create a Development Site
When you request and create a Canvas development site, you can create an alternative space to copy and store course content. This can be handy for several reasons:
- Exchange modules, files, videos, and lessons with colleagues
- Create a secure and private space to explore revisions and minor tweaks
- Store inaccessible content for future edits and maintenance
- Build a central repository for videos, assignments, and ideas.
Note:
- It's very easy to use the Copy To feature to copy an assignment or a module item from a development site to another course.
- You can also use the Send To feature to send an assignment from a development site to another instructor.
Many Ways to CoLab-orate With Us
Valencia Ruprecht of the UMD Bark visited the MediaHub Colab, located in Kirby Plaza 143, and shared:
- “Tiffany Quade, the Learning Media and Technology Coordinator at ITSS Mediahub, is passionate about art education and improving the MediaHub tools available for students. “Students and faculty can use the CoLab for academic, research or personal projects,” Quade said. “We see everything from supporting students to print 3D printed drone parts to a variety of video editing and graphic design projects.”
One takeaway from the UMD Bark article is to visit and start creating in the CoLab! The MediaHub Colab is open Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. The Lab offers access to Adobe Creative Suite, 3D Printers, Cricut Cutters, and collaboration space.
