Highlights
The revised Policy on Accessibility of Information Technology:
- Establishes the latest World-Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA to serve as the University standard.
- Calls out the WCAG requirements for captioning and audio description (AD) for multimedia.
- Stipulates web site owners or their designee are responsible for monitoring web resources for compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA. Monitoring shall include an automated scan using the Functional Accessibility Evaluator (FAE) twice a year. Results are to be submitted to the Disability Resource Center (DRC).
- Provides specificity around the process for accommodation requests.
- States that all colleges, departments, central units and faculty are responsible for ensuring access to their Web content, Web applications, digital materials, environments and services.
- Provides greater specificity around individual student, faculty and other Web resources exempted from the policy.

Incorporating principles of universal design and current accessibility standards in the design and development, purchase and acquisition, implementation and use of information technology and related resources helps the University to ensure that its resources are accessible to the widest possible audience. Adherence to this policy will help to ensure that all individuals have access to Web content, Web applications, digital materials, environments and services associated with administration, courses of instruction, departmental programs, and University-sponsored activities.
