May 18: Global Accessibility Awareness Day

The University of Minnesota is hosting an accessibility event to engage in conversation, thinking, and learning about access and inclusion.

Faculty and staff are invited to the University of Minnesota's Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD). Our event is a half-day online celebration on May 18, 2023. The theme this year is "Amplifying Accessibility".

Registration is Required

Register on the GAAD 2023 Conference Registration Form. Use your University email account, or any other Google account. This will ensure the sessions you select get added to your Google calendar.

Accommodations

Live captioning will be provided for all sessions. American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be provided during the keynote session. Slides and handouts will be available a few days prior on the "Global Accessibility Awareness Day 2023: Amplifying Accessibility" website.

This event embraces and celebrates the skills, experiences, perspectives, ideas, and personal characteristics of all participants. It strives to foster an environment that leverages the unique contributions of all individuals.

Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) is a community-driven worldwide effort in its 12th year. It is held annually on the third Thursday of May and is dedicated to:

raising the profile of and introducing the topic of digital (web, software, mobile app/device etc.) accessibility and people with different disabilities to the broadest audience possible.
