Classroom Techology Updates Due to COVID-19

Wondering about technology for blended course delivery in UMD's physical classrooms? Wonder no further.

ITSS has been working through the summer to plan, order and install AV equipment for UMD classrooms and lecture halls to accommodate blended course delivery in physical classrooms. Our goal was to keep the additional equipment flexible and easy to use.

Timeline

Due to equipment back orders, we are completing general purpose classroom and lecture hall installations through the week of August 24. We will then start on a priority list of department-controlled classrooms that may run into the first two weeks of classes.

Get the Latest Information

Please refer to UMD Fall 2020 Classroom Technology to for the latest information on:

  • Classroom AV upgrades and schedule
  • How to prepare for a blended classroom
  • How to connect your laptop to classroom AV equipment (video demonstrations)
  • Where you can test before classes and how to get support
  • Tips for using Zoom in blended classroom
  • Open classroom space and times.

Test Your Technology

We strongly encourage that you test your laptop connection and Zoom session before the first day of class.

Because classrooms have been cleaned and sanitized, we are unsure when they will be open before classes begin. There will be at least one classroom open beginning on August 24 for testing your laptop connection at the podium. Refer the UMD Fall 2020 Classroom Technology to find open classroom space and times.

You may also want to check with your collegiate unit to see if they are planning classroom demonstration sessions.
