Teaching Innovation Grants
University of Minnesota system-wide Teaching Support @ UMN units will be awarding Teaching Innovation Grants (up to $1000) starting this spring. Proposals will be accepted from faculty and instructors at any U of M campus twice each year. Innovation is broadly defined and encompasses innovation in all forms, including pedagogy, content, accessibility for students with disabilities, and technology.
Deadline for submission is March 9, 2018.

Are you interested in finding out how the science of learning can change your teaching practice? Our webinars can show you how.
The research on how students learn can inform our teaching in a variety of ways, but the vastness of this literature can be overwhelming. This workshop series will explore four facets of student learning and each will provide concrete strategies for enhancing student learning, whether you teach face-to-face, online or hybrid courses. Each workshop will incorporate the expertise of teaching and learning professionals from the Center for Educational Innovation, Academic Technology Support Services, the Libraries and the Disability Resource Center.

Non-credit Canvas Course Request Tool Coming in March
This new tool will offer the same functions as the current Moodle option, but with the capability to allow users to specify requests to the department level. UMN OIT is currently working with units to understand overall needs and deliver the best balance between basic creation and provisioning to more specialized and complex course placement and control. The plan is to release the new process and form by end of March 2018.
FERPA Form for Publishers and Other Third-party Vendors with Canvas LTI Integrations
In an effort to streamline and speed-up the Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) integration vetting process and ensure Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) compliance, an agreement has been approved by the Office of General Council and Data Compliance for use with third-party vendors. This form will be critical moving forward to document our expectations when it comes to protecting student data and privacy.
