She provides support for faculty in the area of learning technology, course management and the development of course materials.
Karen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in horticulture from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls and a Master of Science degree in horticulture from the University of Minnesota. She began her career exploring educational technologies as an extension fellow, researching and implementing online training methods for the University of Minnesota Horticulture Department and Extension Master Gardener program.
Prior to coming to UMD, Karen consulted with Land Grant University and Cooperative Extension educators to promote virtual team collaboration and web-based delivery of national Extension education and outreach projects.
