Aaron Caveny (End User Support/TechCenter) will be on extended military leave until August 2017. As a member of the Army Reserve, he was deployed in June to Afghanistan. During his absence, Brittany Meyer-Madges (End User Support) has moved from our Help Desk and Desktop support area and will be assuming many of Aaron's TechCenter duties. This includes supervising the software imaging process, managing TechCenter parts ordering and inventory, assisting with warranty maintenance repair processes, and providing support for Casper and Active Directory computer management processes. To fill in for Brittany's end user support duties, we have hired Adem Hunter.
Adem previously worked as a temp for ITSS and is returning to work full time for us for the next year. Adem is working at the ITSS Help Desk and will be providing a wide range of end user support services to the campus. Lastly, ITSS filled a staff vacancy in our programming area with the hire of Jackson Houston. Jackson is a former UMD student graduating with a degree in Computer Science. While an undergraduate he joined and led the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, volunteered to be a RockStar for Bulldog Welcome Week, and worked for Kirby Student Center. Jackson's leadership skills and diversity perspective helps ITSS become an even more enjoyable workplace. Technically, Jackson has strong interest in application user interface design. Jackson's Scrum experience in his coursework is a big enhancement for our development team. Scrum is an agile application development methodology that focuses on more constant and transparent communication, more frequent user involvement, and faster product delivery. Along with our development team, Jackson will be working on application and web design for various collegiate units and add on to our customer's positive experience.
